RTÉ’s Primetime programme will examine the issue of defective blocks used in homes in Donegal in a programme to be broadcast tonight.

The programme will air at 9.35pm on RTÉ 1 after the news.

Hundreds of homes in the county have been affected by the problem of crumbling block work.

An expert group was established last November to investigate the issue.

The Mica Action Group (MAG) said it has been in regular contact with Primetime in the last few months and have worked hard to ensure a full picture of the extent of the problem and the serious and desperate situation facing homeowners has been communicated.

Eileen Doherty, Joint Secretary of the Mica Action Group said: “This airing of this programme by Primetime is the culmination of months of hard work by RTÉ, MAG and a number of homeowners affected by this issue. To give this issue national media attention is long overdue and we hope that viewers will see the desperate situation homeowners are finding themselves in, through no absolutely no fault of their own”.

The group is hosting a public viewing of the programme in An Grianan Hotel Burt, Co. Donegal tonight.
