Last weekend one of the most inspirational women in the country paid a visit to Donegal Town where she joined a group of young adults in a colour run for the Donal Walsh LiveLife Foundation.
Donal Walsh, the Kerry teenager touched so many lives when he came to prominence through his writings and subsequent appearance on Brendan O’Connor’s ‘The Saturday Night Show’. Donal tirelessly worked to raise funds for cancer treatment and support while battling cancer.
Sadly, Donal passed away in May, 2013, aged just 16.
His family set up the Donal Walsh #Livelife Foundation to promote his anti-suicide #Livelife message.
Donal’s mother, Elma travelled to Donegal Town on Saturday last to meet up with Shannan McLaughlin from Kilcar to carry on on Donal’s message of living life to the full.
Shannan told the Democrat, “Ever since I saw Donal on television that night I have just been so inspired. Even when facing death he was always just so positive: he made every minute count. He really stressed the whole futility of suicide. We really have an awful lot to learn from Donal’s all too short life.”
Elma is pictured with some of the participants in the colour run at the John Bosco Centre on Saturday last.
