Yellow weather advisory issued for Bank Holiday Monday

Yellow weather advisory issued for Bank Holiday Monday

The Easter weekend will be cold and showery, Sunday looks a reasonable day, mainly dry, but Bank Holiday Monday looks like a day for the couch, as Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow Weather Advisory for Monday.

The warning, issued at 3pm Friday is valid from 6pm on Sunday to 6pm on Monday, warning that a band of heavy rain in southern counties on Sunday night will extend northwards overnight and during Monday, turning wintry with falls of sleet and snow in some areas.

Before that tonight, Friday will turn cold w,ith frost developing where skies are clear, with some mist and fog also. Lowest temperatures will range -1 to + 2 degrees in light northerly breezes.

Mist, fog and frost will clear tomorrow, Saturday morning. There will be a few scattered showers during the day, but they should be fairly light and it will be dry and bright much of the time with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees, highest in the southwest and south in moderate northerly winds but fresh near north and east coasts.

Saturday night will be very cold with clear spells and light northerly breezes - overall dry but isolated showers may occur. Frost and possibly some ice setting in later with lowest temperatures of -3 to +1 degrees Celsius

Easter Sunday will be frosty to begin, but overall dry with good spells of sunshine for much of the day but as we move into Monday things go downhill and that weather alert kicks in for all parts of the country.
