Update: Monaghan road crash victim from Donegal is named

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan on Saturday afternoon at approximately 5.10pm that claimed the life of a man from Donegal.

The deceased man has been named as Patrick McGinley, who is from the Kilmacrennan area. 

The motorcycle which he was driving collided with a roundabout on the N2 near Tullyvin.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The local coroner was notified and his body was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda for a post-mortem.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators were at the scene and the N2 was closed for a period.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. Any road users who were travelling on the N2 near Castleblayney between 4.45pm and 5.30pm yesterday afternoon and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make it available to Gardaí.
