The late Séamus Sweeney,  Mullingar and Corveen, Derrybegs

The death occurred in Cluain Lir Care Centre, Mullingar on Saturday 3rd December of Séamus Gallagher, The Moorings, Mullingar.

Aged in his seventies, he passed away after a long illness.

His late parents were originally from Gaoth Dobhair.  His father, Charlie  Den Jimmy Gallagher hailed from Dore, while his mother, Annie Jamsie, née Sweeney, was a native of Corveen, Derrybeg.

Séamus spent some time in his youth living in Corveen.

A teacher by profession, he was former principal of St. Laurence’s School, Omeath, Co. Louth.

His remains reposed on Monday evening, December 5th at Midland Regional Hospital Mortuary Chapel. His remains were removed on Tuesday, December 6th to St. Mary's Church, Collinstown for Requiem Mass at 2pm, followed by burial afterwards in local cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Ann, son, Cathal and daughters, Dara and Áine, grandchildren, Daniel and Ciarán, sisters, Kathleen and Noreen, and brother, Don. Son-in-law, Matthew, family circle, relatives and friends, to all of whom deep sympathy is extended.
