Sean McGoldrick is ready to return to the ring for a title tilt.
Sean McGoldrick is aiming to enter the world of the titlists on Friday night.
The Welsh boxer, whose father Liam is from Ballybofey, faces Scott Allan in Cardiff.
The vacant British and Commonwealth bantamweight titles are on the line at the Vale Sports Arena.
The 31-year-old , McGoldrick – the 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist - defeated Alexander Taylor 58-56 on points in October.
He is 12-1 as a pro with three of his fights won inside the scheduled distance.
Newport native McGoldrick will have a big home following in Cardiff with a strong Donegal sprinkling - including Donegal Boxing Board President Peter O’Donnell - among the audience.
McGoldrick is bid to become the first Newport boxer since David ‘Bomber’ Pearce in 1983 to win the Lonsdale Belt.
Friday’s card is being run by Thirty6 Sport in association with Lee Eaton.
In 2019, McGoldrick lost on a unanimous decision to Thomas Essomba for the WBA Continental bantamweight title, but hit back with wins over Stefan Slavchev in Cardiff in 2020 and Stephen Jackson at York Hall in 2021.
Allan is 11-6-1, and the pair go in search of a title previously held by Belfast puncher Ryan Burnett in 2015 and 2016 before he went on to become unified world bantamweight champion.
