Impressive bronze for Ashleigh McArdle in Sheffield

Ashleigh McArdle won a bronze medal at the English Under-17 Multi Event Championships.

The Lifford-Strabane AC woman was on the podium in the under-17 women's pentathlon.

McArdle concluded the five events having amassed 3,352 points at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield on Saturday.

Basildon AC's Zoe Gregory won gold with 3,604 points, followed by Ruby Tillson from Havering AC, who scored 3,489.

McArdle's lot included a new personal best in the long jump and a season's best in the shot.

McArdle opened with a 9.27-second effort over the 60m hurdles before going over the high jump at 1.56m.

A 12.30m shot put represented her season's best, with Gregory reaching out to 12.63m.

McArdle hit a new PB in the long jump, touching the sand at 5.14m.

Out of lane 4, McArdle was fourth in the 800m, crossing the line in 2:43.37.
