Top boxing matchmaker Robert Diaz will jet into Dublin for Jason Quigley’s comeback fight this weekend.
Diaz, based in Los Angeles, is regarded as one of the world’s leading matchmakers.
He will be ringside at the National Stadium in Dublin on Saturday night when Quigley goes up against Anatoli Hunanyan.
Diaz worked with Golden Boy Promotions since the company’s formation in 2002, but parted ways in January of this year.
Since turning pro, Quigley fought under the Golden Boy banner until his defeat to Demetrius Andrade in November 2021 - the Ballybofey man’s last fight.
Diaz has been a long-time admirer of Quigley and was with him in New Hampshire for the joust with Andrade.
Diaz has openly told of his admiration for Quigley who he described in 2021 as ‘one of the kids I believe in’.
While working with Golden Boy, Diaz helped to guide the careers of the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Gennady Golovkin, Bernard Hopkins and JoJo Diaz.
Saturday’s will be Quigley’s first fight in Ireland as a professional with St Johnston puncher Brett McGinty taking a spot on the undercard.
