Matthew McCole landed his latest Irish Colleges title at the weekend.
Matthew McCole bagged his fourth Irish Colleges title at the weekend.
The Dungloe native, who boxes out of the Illies Golden Gloves, took the senior 71kgs title on Saturday.
The finals were held at the High Performance Gym in the National Stadium.
McCole, a student at ATU Donegal, defeated Darragh Gilroy in the 71kgs decider.
The Donegal man was given a walkover for the semi-finals with Gilroy overcoming James Cullen in his semi.
Last year, McCole won a bronze medal at the 2022 FISU University World Cup Combat Sports.
In Turkey, McCole defeated Hungary’s Soma Mester in his quarter-final, but an injury prevented him from taking place in the semi-finals.
McCole had defeated Mexico’s Marco Ariel Hernandez Albvidrez and Sean Finnegan from Canada via unanimous decisions to advance.
In January, McCole was unfortunate to lose out to Jon McConnell in a National Elite light-middleweight semi-final in Dublin.
