Finn Valley AC athlete Eimear McCarroll competes at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships on Saturday in Austria.
McCarroll is part of the Irish team that has travelled to Innsbruck. McCarroll will go in Saturday's junior women's race.
In May, McCarroll was second in the Irish Mountain Running Association under-20 trial. The race, at Ballyhoura, Limerick, was a trial for the international team and helped gain selection.
At the Ulster District Schools Track and Field Championships last month, McCarroll won gold in the 3,000m.
This is the second edition of the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships and comes eight months after the inaugural event in Chiang Mai in Thailand.
Switzerland and Great Britain are expected to have strong teams with GB's Jess Bailey and Rebecca Flaherty having been first and second in Chiang Mai.
