“I have so little experience leading a Supersport race so I'm learning every round, but Currie's bike is so fast that I knew I had to take the lead and stay in front.”

Heading into qualifying, Irwin felt confident putting his Astro JJR Suzuki on the front row of the grid in P2. Race one was declared a wet race with very slippery conditions for all racers.

Irwin rode an intelligent race with no tested wet settings went over the finish line in P4 mindful of his Championship standing.

Sunday dawned dry and with a solid morning warm up, Irwin and his team made some minor adjustments to start Race 2 from P2 on the grid.

Irwin took an early lead riding a brave race to hold off the advances of experienced racers Currie and Booth Amos to take the chequered flag in style.
