Donegal boxers set for Ulster Seniors

Seven Donegal boxers will don the gloves for the Ulster Senior Championships this week.
The action begins at the Crumlin Star Sports and Social Club in Belfast on Wednesday.
Letterkenny BC’s Cillian Boyce will be in an open 60kgs semi-final on Wednesday when he clashes with Leon McMahon from Glengormley.
Ballyshannon’s Seamus Wardle will joust with Sacred Heart Newry man John Kelly in a novice 67kgs quarter-final on the same evening.
On Thursday evening, Alex McAleer from Ballyshannon BC will be in a novice 63.5kgs semi-final and he awaits a quarter-final winner.
Raphoe BC’s Ryan McDaid will feature in a 75kgs novice semi-final on Thursday when he faces up to Owen Sloan from Kilkeel.
Cathal McLaughlin, also of Raphoe BC, sq uares up to James Maguinnes from Down in an open middleweight semi-final.
Raphoe BC’s Danny Duffy is already assured of posts in the open 54kgs final.
Donegal is guaranteed one champion with Danny Byrne of Ballyshannon BC handed a walkover in the novice 91+kgs category.
Meanwhile, the Donegal Novice Championships will take place on Saturday at Carndonagh Boxing Club with the first bell at 12 noon.
These are for male and female boxers between the ages of 11-40 years and boxers must pre-enter before 12 noon on Wednesday September 27.
Boxers will be split into two sections: A section 0-5 bouts; B section 6-10 bouts. Weigh in will take place from 7-30-8.30pm on Thursday at Letterkenny Boxing Club.
