Roisin Flanagan and Oisín Ó Gailín
Roisin Flanagan and Oisín Ó Gailín had fine outings over a mile in the United States on Friday night.
The Finn Valley AC pair were in indoor action in Boston and Albuquerque.
Flanagan lowered the Donegal indoor one mile record in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Gortin woman won the New Mexico Team Open Women’s 1 Mile Run in 4:40.12.
Flanagan won from Adams State’s Elena Carey (4:49.25) and Morgan Hykes, also of Adams State, (4:52.25).
In January 22, Flanagan won the same event when setting her previous Donegal best in the distance, going 4:40.59, also at the Convention Centre.
At Boston University, Ó Gailín dipped below four minutes for a mile. At the 2024 BU John Thomas Terrier Classic, the Ballybofey man clocked 3:58.28 for fifth in an event won by Boston University’Steve Jackson in 3:56.37.
Last January, Ó Gailín became only the second Donegal athlete - after Gary Murray - to run a sub four-minute mile when going 3:59.07.
