Inishowen RFC
Inishowen hosted Ulster University at the weekend and put in one of their best performances of the season to take an 18-3 victory.
On a difficult pitch, the opening score came after a good turnover by the forwards after just eight minutes which Scott dispatched confidently to put the home side 3-0 up.
Ulster Univeristy had the majority of the possession at this point and it took another Scott penalty to extend the lead to 6-0 after 20 minutes.
Before the break, the students chipped over a penalty of their own to leave it a very close 6-3 game at half-time.
Inishowen, as they often do, found their groove in the second half and after Ulster University nearly scored from a breakaway, Inishowen turned the tables when McGonagle made good work in tight spaces to make the line 11-3.
With both teams tiring now on the heavy pitch chances became limited and the game became a bit more of a slog.
However, with four minutes left on the clock Scott made good work evading the tackles to cross the line securing the game and when he struck the conversion it finished 18-3.
Young players Cantwell and McLaughlin were very good in both defence and attack all day and McKenna had a solid game at hooker.
That makes it three from three in the league, but the focus now shifts to the Forster Cup semi-final in Ballnahinch next Saturday, a competition the club has never won. The squad will travel confident having not lost a game in over five months.
