Raphoe Badminton Club's Corey Chambers.
Raphoe Badminton Club duo Corey Chambers and Emily Maxwell have been called up to the Ireland Under-15 squad.
Chambers and Maxwell will represent Ireland at the 2024 Quadrangular event held in England at the National Badminton Centre, Milton Keynes next weekend, from April 26-28.
“It’s a massive achievement to be selected to represent your country and it’s one they both can be so proud of,” Raphoe Badminton Club said.
In the case of Maxwell, it is a first international call-up.
The team selected will play in both the team and individual event over the three days.
At the Ulster Badminton Open at the weekend, Chambers won two gold and one bronze medal.
Chambers teamed up with Conor Blakeman for gold in the boys under-15 doubles. Chambers and Blakeman overcame Charan Rajulapati and Wyatt Winston in the final.
Chambers also bagged gold in the mixed doubles. Chambers and Hannah Shochan defeated Rajulapati and Carol Joy in the final, while the promising Chambers bagged bronze in the singles.
At the same tournament, Maxwell won bronze in both the under-15 mixed doubles and girls doubles, playing alongside Winston and Ananya Gopinath.
