Brendan Boyce (Athletics; 2012, 2016, 2020)

Before the Olympic Games in London in 2012, Milford's Brendan Boyce had only ever completed two 50k race walks.

In London, Boyce clocked a then personal best of 3:55:01 over the gruelling event to finish in 26th spot. He had finished 29th, but over time and disqualification of doped opponents that finish has been upgraded.

Boyce took up the event after meeting Andi Drake, a race walk coach, while at university in Coventry and he linked up with former world champion Rob Heffernan in Cork.

After going 3:53:59 for 19th in Rio, Boyce was 10th at the 2020 Olympic Games where he finished in 3:53:40.
