Finn Valley AC senior woman finished third in the Premier Division and Tir Chonaill AC's women won Division 1 at the 123.ie National League finals in Tullamore on Suday.

Finn Valley AC's senior women took team bronze medals in the Premier Division having been locked in a podium battle with St Laurence O'Toole AC.

When the sums were all totted, Leevale AC won gold with 140 points and Dundrum South Dublin took silver with 133 points.

Finn Valley edged St Laurence O'Toole by 105 points to 99, the 4x400m relay proving a big difference at the end.

Finn Valley AC's quartet of Eimear McCarroll, Amy Greene, Arlene Crossan and Katie Louise McMonagle were third to take the crucial points and cement a place on the podium.

Crossan and Amy Timoney broke Finn Valley AC club records earlier in the day.

Crossan won the 200m in 24.85 seconds and followed up by winning the 400m in 55.44 seconds.

Timoney brought down a 24-year-old record to finish third in the 100m hurdles. In running 15.66 seconds, she claimed the new club record in the 100m hurdles, with Danea Herron's old mark of 16.35 seconds also set at the National League, back in 1990 in Santry.

Timoney also crossed the line in 12.73 seconds for fifth in the 100m.

Greene was second in the 2000m steeplechase (6:58.95) and Sinead McConnell – who will compete at the World Masters in August – was second in the 1500m race walk (7:47.61).

McCarroll is bound for the United States to take up a scholarship at Bradley University and was third over 1500m here, finishing in 4:38.33.

Bridget McDyer was third in the weight for distance, throwing out to 6.10m, and was fourth in the shot, thanks to a 9.16m throw.

Jade Leeper threw the discus to 31.89m for third in the discus and added valuable points when placing fifth in the hammer (20.57m)

Fourth spots, too, for Kathy Bannigan in the triple jump (9.62m), Leoni Cooke in the 3000m (10:31.94) and Erin Sproule in the 400m (1:12.22). The 4x100m foursome of Timoney, Crossan, Katie Louise McMonagle and Shauna Carlin were fourth, going 49.67 seconds.

Catriona Devine was fifth in the 800m (2:31.26), Andrea Slevin got over 1.35m for sixth in the high jump with Carlin sixth in the javelin, throwing to 19.05 and there was an uncharacteristic no mark for Lauren Callaghan in the long jump.

Tir Chonaill AC secured the Division 1 title – and, with it, promotion to the Premier Division.

Tir Chonaill AC amassed a total of 121 points to see off St Abban's (105) and Enniscorthy (100).

Ava Anderson won the shot put and the weight for distance, reaching to 10.22m in the shot and 6.05m in WFD.

Siobhan Doherty took victory in the 1500m walk in 7:59.59 while Emily Kelly punched in a 1:06.19 to win the 400m hurdles and also nabbing second spot in the 200m, finishing there in 26.51 seconds.

Guests Ashleigh McArdle and Adrienne Gallen – both from Lifford-Strabane AC – significantly aided the Tir Chonaill cause. McArdle won the high jump (1.60m), javelin (34.75m) and 100m hurdles (14.98) while Gallen threw to 50.08m to win the hammer and was third in the discus (31.25m).

McArdle lined up with Alexis Campbell, Kelly and Anderson to win the 4x100m in 53.13 seconds.

Campbell was third in the long jump (3.56m) and seventh over 400m (1:27.10) with Aoibhe Curran fourth in the 800m (2:42.36) and seventh in the 100m (14.97).

Team captain Ciara Cunningham was fourth in the 3000m (10:59.56) and Nicola Maguire came fourth in the 1500m (6:03.09)

Tir Chonaill's 4x400m relay were seventh as Cunningham, Maguire, Campbell and Doherty finihed in 4:57.38.

In the men's Premier Division, Finn Valley AC placed seventh with Tir Chonaill eighth.

For Tir Chonaill, Ethan Dewhirst won the 400m hurdles in 56.61 seconds and was third in the 110m hurdles in 15.55 seconds, while there were also third for Shane Breslin in the shot and Alex Anderson in the discus.
