Derryveagh Boxing Club's David Tennyson
Donegal boxer David Tennyson won gold at the King of the Ring tournament in Sweden over the weekend.
The Derryveagh Boxing Club light welterweight took victory in the Junior 63kgs section in Borås, Sweden.
Tennyson overcame Tariz Korziz from Ukraine in the final, claiming a 2-1 split decision. The west Donegal man did enough to take the decision against the Mukachevo BC representative.
Tennyson defeated Jake Gardner from Seven Oaks BC in England in his quarter-final before overcoming Ivan Shebkanov from Malmo in Sweden. Both of those wins were via unanimous decisions.
Over 600 boxers from 25 nations competed at the King of the Ring tournament.
Victory for Tennyson came just days after he won gold at the Belfast Box Cup.

Tennyson stopped Glengormley’s Jake Burns in the second round of their Youth 63kgs quarter-final. After overpowering Luke McCauley of Ormeau Road BC in the semi-final, Tennyson took gold by walkover after Nedas Samatakus was unable to take his place in the final due to an injury.
Last year, while representing Raphoe BC, he won gold at the HSK Box Cup in Denmark, taking the under-17 lightweight division with a win over Magnus Sorensen at the Royal Stage in Hillerød.
