Seven Donegal athletes are on Irish teams for the 35th British and Irish Masters Cross Country International at Billy Neill Country Park this Saturday.

The Belfast venue hosts teams from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.

Finn Valley AC’s Leoni Cooke will make her debut in the Irish vest this weekend.

Selection was gained via the Autumn Open Cross Country with Cooke set to go in the W35 section.

She will be joined by club-mates Jon-Jo Doherty (M35), Catriona Devine (W50) and Kay Byrne (W60).

Rosses AC’s Helen McCready and Letterkenny AC’s Claire McGuigan both go in the W40 category while Inishowen AC’s Pauric McKinney is in the mix for the M55 race.

Three further Donegal athletes, Noreen Bonner of Finn Valley (W65) and Milford AC pair Anthony Doherty (M55) and Martin Kerr (M70) are named as reserves.

All competitors are grouped together in five-year age bands.

Competition on the day starts at 11am with a total of four international events, and the programme concludes with an open race for any men and women athletes not involved in the international.
