Ann-Marie McGlynn of Letterkenny AC alongside Amy Greene are among the 36 athletes named on the Irish team
Letterkenny AC’s Ann Marie McGlynn and Finn Valley AC’s Amy Greene are among the 36 athletes named by Athletics Ireland for the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Antalya, Türkiye, on Sunday, December 8.
McGlynn, fresh off her dominant gold medal performance at the National Senior Cross Country Championships in Enniskillen, will captain the senior women’s team.
The Donegal athlete brings a wealth of experience, having claimed team bronze at the 2022 championships in Turin. She will be joined by Niamh Allen (Leevale AC), Danielle Donegan (Tullamore Harriers), Fiona Everard (Bandon AC), Mary Mulhare (Portlaoise AC), and Cheryl Nolan (St Abban’s AC).
Meanwhile, Amy Greene’s strong showing at the nationals, where she finished second in the women’s U-23 category, secured her spot on the U-23 women’s team.
Greene will race alongside national champion Emma McEvoy (Dundrum South Dublin AC), Roise Roberts (Candour Track Club), and Lucy Holmes (West Waterford AC). This talented quartet will aim to challenge for top honours in Türkiye.
Ireland’s teams will take to the start line in Antalya with high expectations across all categories. With proven performers like McGlynn and emerging talents such as Greene, the Irish squad will hope to build on their proud tradition of success at these championships.
