Donegal Voc Schools - Team Award
Captain Patrick Gallagher, John McConnell, Jimmy Brennan, Luke Gavigan, Eamonn MacNiallais, Brian Coyle, Eoin Bonner, Cormac McGarvey, and Rory O’Neill were all present on the night to receive the award.
It was the first team from the county at any level to ever win in Croke Park. The team was captained by Ardara’s Patrick Gallagher and the manager was PJ McGowan when they defeated Longford in the final by 3-9 to 2-3 in April 1984.
They recorded a comfortable win in the final, especially after Eamon McNiallais converted a penalty goal just before half-time to give them a six-point lead. A number of the squad went on to play minor, U-21, and senior for Donegal.
John Joe Doherty and Manus Boyle would win an All-Ireland for Donegal at senior level in 1992.
