In Pictures: Introducing the 1984 Donegal Sports Star Award winners 40 years on

The Donegal Sports Star Committee caught up with the winners of 40 years ago on Monday night in Letterkenny. These are the stories of the 1984 winners

Gweedore Community School

The winner of the Secondary School Award in 1984 was Gweedore Community School.

It was a good year for the school with Eamonn MacNiallais and Cornelius McFadden on the Donegal team that won that historic All-Ireland Vocational School title.

The importance of sport as part of the general education of students was prioritised and as a result, a variety of sports were played under the guidance of members of the teaching staff giving off their time to promote physical and mental health.
