Bernadette Gallagher - Martial Arts
The award was accepted on the night by her sister Caroline Smith.
After winning the Donegal and Ulster Judo titles, Bernadette went on to claim an U-16 silver medal at the National Community Games in Mosney. It was a hugely successful event for the Gallagher family that weekend as there were also silver medals for her siblings Martin, Kevin, and Angela.
Indeed over a number of years, the Gallaghers won a total of seven medals and certificates at the Community Games in judo and throwing events. Bernadette also won a bronze medal in 1984 at the National Judo Championships in Dublin.
