Raphoe badminton duo Rachael Darragh and Joshua Magee both reached quarter-finals at the Yonex Estonian International.

Darragh, a 2024 Olympian, exited at the last eight phase of the women’s singles while Magee, her uncle, bowed out in the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles, playing alongside Moya Ryan.

Darragh lost a pulsating quarter-final to Nella Nyqvist from Finland. Nyqvist took victory at the Kalevi Sports Hall 21-19 21-15.

Darragh opened up with a 21-6 21-13 win over Mariana Paiva from Portugal.

Poland’s Ulyana Volskaya was beaten in her round of 16 game. While Volskaya took the first game and was 17-10 in front in the second, Darragh showed real guts and class to win an epic struggle, triumphing 18-21 21-19 21-17 after 63 minutes.

Magee and Ryan overcame French pair Gaspard Delabrosse and Lily Gautier 21-15 21-14 and followed up by beating Max Svensson and Romina Olyaee from Sweden 14-21 21-16 21-16.
