Letterkenny AC man Ciaran McGonagle has been selected on the Ireland squad for the Anglo Celtic Plate 100k Home International.
The Burtonport native is part of the team for the event at Mallory Park in Leicester on May 3.
The course will be a reminder of the ACP in 2021, which was held in Mondello Park with athletes racing on a motor racing circuit of a 4.782Km lap (20.72 laps).
Last year, McGonagle won the 100km Irish Athletics National Championships, setting a new 100km national record time of 6:50.28.
In 2023 at the Anglo Celtic Plate he was seventh when he clocked in at 6:57.32 for the 100k.
McGonagle was named Athletics Ireland’s Ultra Runner of the Year in November 2023.
The Anglo Celtic Plate 100k Home International plays an important role in developing athletes at distances beyond the Marathon and to prepare athletes for future opportunities at European and World Championships.
