The Balor Theatre and, inset, special guest Darragh Kelly
All roads lead to Ballybofey this Saturday in more ways than one with the latest leg of the New Order Grappling Invitational to take place at the Balor Theatre.
Donegal clash with Dublin in the NFL at MacCumhaill Park later on in the evening but prior to that, some of the country’s best martial artists will showcase their talents in very close proximity.
This Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition gets going at 6pm and will showcase the finest talents from across the north west of the country and indeed beyond.
Competitors will face off in a series of bouts, each one a test of skill, strategy, and sheer determination.
The New Order Grappling Invitational will be a gathering of the BJJ community, where athletes of all levels come together to push their limits, learn from one another, and compete at the highest level.
The atmosphere in Ballybofey will be electric, with fans and participants alike sharing in the excitement of seeing new talents emerge and seasoned practitioners show their worth.
Whether you’re stepping onto the mats or cheering from the seats, this promises to be an unforgettable experience filled with high-level grappling, sportsmanship, and the spirit of competition.
Niall Timoney of Rilion Gracie, Donegal Town, is also part of the organising committee of the event and he says tickets have now sold out.
“It’s exciting and the reaction to it has been excellent,” he told DonegalLive. “MMA star Darragh Kelly will also be in attendance.

“He would have trained with Rilion Gracie in Letterkenny before heading off to Dublin to join up with SBG.
“He’s kindly agreed to come along on the night as special guest. It’s an open tournament with 34 competitors on the night. This is the best of the best from not just the north west but beyond.
“There will be 22 matches on the night. Tickets have already sold out so we’re going to have a packed house.
“It’s a great venue as well. So it’s just a matter now of counting down the days and the hope and expectation is that it’ll be a very enjoyable event for those competing and those in attendance”.
