Letterkenny AC in Portugal at the European Champions Clubs Cup Cross Country

Ann-Marie McGlynn finished ninth at the European Champions Clubs Cup Cross Country in Albufeira on Sunday, leading Letterkenny AC to a ninth-place finish in the team standings.

McGlynn won the National Senior Championships in Irvinestown, where Letterkenny AC were the second team in November.

On Sunday in Albufeira, McGlynn bagged a top ten finish.

McGlynn, who was also the national marathon champion in 2024, was the lead protagonist for LAC.

Nakita Burke placed 43rd with Noeleen Scanlan 54th and Claire McGuigan 57th.

Last year’s silver medallist Francine Niyomukunzi of Italian team Cus Pro Patria Milano won the senior women’s race.

Niyomukunzi, a Burundian international, competed in the 5000m and 10,000m at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Bahar Yildirim from Fenerbache was second and Mariana Machado was third to guide Sporting Clube de Braga to team gold.
