Mark English underscored his fine form with another top class run in France.

At Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais Trophée EDF, English clocked 1:45.82 over 800m - the second fastest indoor time of his career.

At the weekend in New York, the Finn Valley AC athlete broke the Irish indoor 800m when going 1:45.15 at the Millrose Games.

Having become the first Irish athlete to run a 1:45 indoors, English returned across the Atlantic and showed little sign of jetlag,

Eliott Crestan of Belgium won in 1:44.81 with Bryce Hoppel from the United States second in 1:44.98.

Algeria’s Slimane Moula (1:45.37), Mohamed Attaoui from Spain (1:45.64) and France’s Yanis Meziane (1:45.80) followed with English next.

The gold level meet was held in front of a capacity 5,500 in Arena Stade Couvert, Liévin.
