Mark McGinley has qualified for the 2025 Ironman 70.3 World Championship.

McGinley competed in the Ironman 70.3 Mallorca at the weekend.

There, the Glenswilly man finished in four hours, 19 minutes and 16 seconds.

McGinley was 15th overall and sixth in his M25-29 category.

McGinley has now qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships, which take place in Marbella in November.

McGinley is coached by Aidan Callaghan and is also competed notably in athletics. In 2024, he was part of the Finn Valley AC team that won the Donegal Senior Cross Country title alongside his brother Sean - the race winner.

Mark McGinley placed eighth and they were joined by Oisin Toye, Jon-Jo Doherty, Ryan Quinn and Gerard Gallagher.

He cycled some 80km to the 2023 Donegal Novice Championship in Carndonagh where he took an individual silver and team gold medal.
