Kilmacrennan native Irwin, starting from pole for Gearlink Bike Performance 15, led the opening lap before Luke Stapleford moved ahead on the second.
Defending champion Jack Kennedy was also in the mix, passing Irwin a lap later and then taking the lead on lap six when Stapleford slipped back.
A group of eight riders formed the leading pack, but Irwin remained composed and retook the lead on the second-last lap. Points leader Ben Currie also found a way past Kennedy at the same time.
On the final lap, Currie made a late attempt around the outside at Goddards, but Irwin held firm to win by 0.288 seconds. Currie settled for second, with Kennedy finishing third. Joe Talbot took fourth and Dean Harrison came home fifth.
