Rachael Darragh marks return from injury at tournament in Türkiye

The Raphoe woman, who competed at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, went down to Rosy Pancasari after making a much-awaited return from injury

Rachael Darragh returned to action in Türkiye following an injury lay-off.

The Raphoe badminton ace played in the Victor Türkiye International Challenge.

Darragh, who competed at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, went down to Rosy Pancasari.

Darragh won the first game 23-21, but list out 21-8 21-14 in the next two.

In August, Darragh had to retire through injury from the women’s singles at the World Badminton Championships in Paris.

There, she edged the opening set 21-19 against 18-year-old Sri Lankan prospect Ranithma Liyanage before being overpowered in the second, losing 21-11.

She was trailing 11-3 in the deciding set when she was unable to continue.

The 27-year-old is back in competition following wrist surgery and an extended spell on the sidelines.
