Olympic bronze medallist Mona McSharry delivered a pair of wins at a top-level competition in Italy at the weekend.
The Marlins Swimming Club, Ballyshannon star won the 10m breaststroke and the 50m breaststroke at the International Swimmeeting in Bolzano.
In the 50m breaststroke, McSharry won in 30.32 seconds. McSharry won from Nika Godun from Russia, who was second in 30.49 while Italian Viviane Greif was third in 31.12.
McSharry followed up with gold in the 100m breaststroke, powering home in 1:05.25 to take victory from Godun (1:06.19) and Alessia Ferraguti from Italy (1:07.32).
At the recent World Aquatics Swimming Championships World Cup, McSharry won five medals across the three weekends and set five Irish records in the same period.

McSharry will not be among the 13-strong Swim Ireland squad that will compete at the European Aquatics Championships from December 2-7 in Lublin, Poland. The Grange native has opted not to travel to take part.
