Kilmacrennan rider Richard Kerr has signed with SM Racing, who have joined the ZYN British Superbike Championship grid for the first time in 2026.

SM Racing will debut this weekend at the opening R&G Official Test at Donington Park.

Kerr will be reunited with Honda, with whom he had a Superstock victory in 2023, this year after a testing year in the Superbike class in 2025.

“I am very excited about what is ahead,” Kerr said. “Being back on a Honda again has been a bit of a dream of mine after a tough season last year for myself and the team.

“I learnt a lot though in my first full season in the Superbike class, and I knew there was always going to be a lot of learning to do, but I feel that will help me going forward.

“Over the winter I have been riding a Superstock bike that AMD gave me, so I have been getting used to a Honda again and straight away it felt good to be back on a bike I was more familiar with, which felt really good.

"I haven’t tested the full Superbike yet, but I believe we can keep building this season. The test at Donington Park this weekend will be my first laps on the new bike, so I am really looking forward to it.”

The new SM Racing team is led by owner Sean Meighan and features a familiar partnership with AMD, who have been long-time supporters of Kerr throughout his career. The new team also features a collaboration with Chris Fairburn, whose team took the Honda Fireblade to a podium finish in 2024.

Kerr said: “The new team have been working really hard and I believe we have put together a really good crew and we are ready to go. It has been a massive effort from everyone involved with the SM Racing team and we can’t wait for testing and the first round now.
