In Pictures: Gaoth Dobhair Lady Golfers remember their dear friend Nell Cullen

The occasion was organised to coincide with the first anniversary of Nell's death and the ladies got together last Friday to do some of the things Nell loved, play golf and have fun

When 2026 Gaoth Dobhair Lady Captain Maeve Gillespie took office in January one of her many goals for the year ahead was to organise a tribute to the past Lady Captain Nell Cullen.  The occasion was organised to coincide with the first anniversary of her death and the ladies got together last Friday to do some of the things Nell loved, play golf and have fun.  The event was to remember Nell, her kindness and generosity as well as her love of life.  Although a year has passed since we lost Nell, her spirit lives on in the lives of those she touched, especially her sons Derek and Leeroy, Georgina and Karla and her grandchildren whom she continues to inspire.  The evening started with a golf competition played in very windy conditions and continued with spórt agus craic sa chlubtheach.  Memories and stories about Nell were shared, her vivacious character, her grace, her singing and dancing and how her laughter lit up a room.  While it was a poignant evening with mixed emotions, sad and happy memories and thoughts of the void she left in the Club, her memory remains and is treasured by all. It was all reflected during the evening and all the ladies enjoyed the fun and games, the food agus an deoch bheag fosta!  Many thanks to Derek and Georgina, Leeroy and Karla who were in attendance for the presentation of prizes.

Results are as follows: 1st Frances Sweeney; 2nd Anne Curran; 3rd Kathleen Rodgers; 4th Mairéad Mhic Giolla Bhríde; 5th Maeve Gillespie and Secret Hole Kathleen Doherty.  Maith sibh uilig agus comhghairdeachas libh.  Ní dhéanfar dearmad duit a Nell agus suaimhneas síoraí duit féin agus Charlie.
