McAteer sees off Blackmore to win at the Curragh

Luke McAteer was victorious at the Curragh on Friday night.

Donegal jockey Luke McAteer rode a 7/1 winner at the Curragh on Friday night.

McAteer took the William Hill Scratch Of The Day Handicap aboard Dame Rapide.

The Barry Fitzgerald-trained mount was three-and-a-quarter lengths in front of the favourite, Echoes in Rain.

The Willie Mullins-prepared odds-on favourite (5/6) was ridden by Grand National and Gold Cup winning jockey Rachael Blackmore.

But it was McAteer who pulled away two furlongs from home to claim a comfortable and impressive win, easing up towards the line.
