Jennifer Elvin, Sean McGinley and Amy Greene in Spain
Finn Valley AC duo Jennifer Elvin and Amy Greene were in action at the inaugural European Athletics Off-Road Running Championships at El Paso on Sunday morning.
Elvin finished 38th in the senior women’s race. Elvin won the Irish Mountain Running Trials in Wicklow when securing her spot on the Irish team.
In El Paso, Elvin timed one hour, 33 minutes and 52 seconds to secure a 38th spot.
Switzerland’s Maude Mathys won the senior women’s race, finishing in 1:17:30.
Greene finished 25th in the under-20 women’s race, coming back in 30 minutes and 17 seconds - just 14 seconds behind fellow Irish competitor Hannah Kehoe.
A recent recruit to Finn Valley AC, Greene is coached by fellow Rosses woman Helen McCready.
Finn Valley AC’s Sean McGinley was slated to start the under-20 men’s race, but a foot injury prevented his participation.
