Mona McSharry will compete for a European medal on Saturday evening in Rome
Mona McSharry will be chasing a medal in the final of the European Swimming Championships in Rome come Saturday evening.
The Grange, Co Sligo, native - a Marlins Swimming Club in Ballyshannon graduate - was second in her semi-final and third overall in 1:60.44 in the 100m breaststroke.
"It feels a little but like my old self," she said on RTE Sport afterwards. "I'm very happy with that time. You never know what is going to happen. I have the morning off tomorrow and then will come back to give it my all. I put pressure on myself and that's what drives me and keeps me going. It's a bit of a relief."
