Last Sunday, at the Peak in Bundoran the Irish National Surfing Championships took place and there was huge success for Donegal surfers and Rossnolwagh Surf Club in particluar.
The new Irish Women's Surfing Champion is Maia Monaghan from Rossnowlagh who surfed excellently all day pipping Ayesha Garvey and fellow Rossnowlagh member to the crown in large but highly competitive conditions.
Maia recently retuned from California where she was representing Ireland to try and qualify for the Olympics in Paris in 2024. She used her skills she picked up there to great effect and for the first time in her career was crowned national champion.
Further success followed with Maia finishing third in the Longboard Final and Ayesha fourth and Rossnowlagh Surf Club Chairman, John Britton, was crowned the Irish National Masters Champion.
