Artem Lobov and Conor McGregor were one time best friends but they are now in dispute over the MMA superstar's whiskey brand.
Conor McGregor is being sued by one-time friend and former St Eunan’s College pupil, Artem Lobov, who claims he was the one that came up with the idea for the UFC megastar’s whiskey brand, Proper 12.
Lobov - originally from Russia - lived in Letterkenny for a number of years before moving onto Dublin where he became involved with MMA at Straight Blast Gym.
And he is now claiming that his former training partner and friend owes him a cut of the multi-million euro alcohol franchise.
Lobov's solicitor, Dermot McNamara, told the Irish Independent: "My client is a retired professional fighter with a master’s degree from DCU in Finance and Capital Markets.
“We have issued High Court proceedings on his behalf to enforce an agreement with Mr McGregor regarding the Proper No. Twelve whiskey brand. As these matters are now before the court, we will not be making any further comment."
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for McGregor said: “Proper No. Twelve Irish whiskey was created, developed, branded and tirelessly promoted by Conor McGregor."
