Castle Murray House has been put on the property market.

Donegal's famed Castle Murray House Hotel has been put on the market.

The three-star hotel and restaurant in Dunkineely was one of the most acclaimed in Donegal, winning several awards for its French-inspired food.

Sitting on a seven-acre site overlooking McSwynes Bay near St John’s Point, Castle Murray House comprises some 5,382 square feet.

Danny Byrne and Independent Estate Agents in Dublin have now presented the 10-bedroom boutique hotel to the property market.

The description says: “The establishment comprises a bar/ restaurant/ hotel comprising a property that was considerately planned to optimally cater for customers in comfort, incorporating bar, lounge, restaurant/ function room, 10 en-suite guest rooms, together with a catering kitchen, cellar, stores, staff and ancillary areas.

“In addition, there is a BBQ area which takes full advantage of the outstanding view.”

The estate agent says the property could also be ‘an elaborate holiday home or an Air B and B’.

In January 2017, the hotel and restaurant closed after 14 years with owner Marguerite Howley subsequently reopening it as a boutique guesthouse.

Hollywood actor Paul Ruud chose Castle Murray House as the base for his stag party in 2014.

Prospective buyers are advised that a guide price will be given on application.
