Donegal League postpone all weekend fixtures as a mark of respect

Following the sad passing of both Kieran McGrath and Liam Haughey on Wednesday, the Executive of the Donegal Junior League have decided to postpone all matches fixed for this weekend

Donegal League postpone all weekend fixtures as a mark of respect

The Donegal Junior League has called a weekend postponement of all of its fixtures, following the passing of Kieran McGrath and Liam Haughey.

Kieran was a native of Letterkenny, living at Ard O'Donnell, and Letterkenny Rovers PRO and fixtures secretary of the Letterkenny District Schoolboys League, while Liam of Mount Pleasant, Mountain Top, Letterkenny, fulfilled a variety of roles at Bonagee United down the years. Both passed away on Wednesday.

"As a mark of respect to the Haughey and McGrath families, the Executive of the Donegal Junior League have decided to postpone all matches fixed for this weekend," read a statement from the League. "There were games scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, none of these will now go ahead. May Liam and Kieran Rest In Peace."

The Letterkenny District Schoolboys League have also requested fixtures to be called off this weekend.
