Tyler Toland wants to help Blackburn Rovers women to fulfil their lofty ambitions.

The St Johnston woman signed a two-year contract at the club after becoming Simon Parker’s first singing as manager.

The 21-year-old joins Blackburn in the Women’s Championship club after spending the last year with Liga F club Levante in Spain.

“It’s a massive club with big ambitions for the next few seasons so I can’t wait to get started,” Toland said.

“I visited the club a few weeks back and it’s got great people and great facilities.

“I think it’s really important to visit where you going to spend your future at. Seeing the girls, the coaching staff and the club’s ambitions before was important.”

Among those who will be featuring in the  Women’s Championship are Ireland internationals Kyra Carusa at Londy City Lionesses and Birmingham City players Harriet Scott, Lucy Quinn, Louise Quinn and Jamie Finn.

Defensive midfielder Toland wants to drive Rovers up the charts in the 2023-24 season. Parker was appointed manager in mid-July and sees Toland as a key figure.

Toland said:“I’m here to help the team and to drive the team on to more success.

“Last season is definitely something to build off. We’ve set the standards now so we’re looking to push on from here and see what we can achieve together as a team.”

Toland previously signed for Manchester City before having a loan spell at Glasgow City. After leaving Manchester City in 2021, she signed for Celtic, where the won the Scottish Women's Premier League Cup and Scottish Women’s Cup.

Toland has 13 caps for the Republic of Ireland having been the youngest ever debutant when featuring at just over 16 years of age against Northern Ireland in 2017.
