Donegal Underage League 2010 boys were only denied top spot in the Belfast Youth Cup in an agonising penalty shoot-out.

Jonny McGroarty’s Donegal fell 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw with Cherry Orchard in the final played at the University of Ulster Jordanstown campus.

The gut-wrenching defeat brought an end to a superb week for the Donegal lads, who were unbeaten in normal time all week and had won four and drawn one of their first five games.

In the semi-final, Donegal Underage League defeated Finn Harps Academy 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 stalemate.

Donegal defeated Portstewart 3-2, Bradford Park 5-0 and Crusaders 4-0 after a 2-2 draw with Maiden City Academy.

Glenree United man Jerry Coyle top scored for Donegal with five goals with Bonagee United player Cahir Daly named as player of the tournament.
