Ronan Curtis scored in the 97th minute for AFC Wimbledon
Ronan Curtis scored a dramatic winner on his AFC Wimbledon debut on Saturday.
The St Johnston man struck in the 97th minute for a 2-1 win over Mansfield in League Two.
Curtis penned a short term deal with The Dons recently and he announced his arrival to Plough Lane in style on Saturday.
Curtis was sent on as a 67th minute replacement for John-Kymani Gordon.
The 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international had scored 57 goals in 226 appearances for Portsmouth before bidding Fratton Park farewell last summer. Although he stayed at Pompey to finish his rehab from an ACL injury, Curtis’s exit was already known.
Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson snapped Curtis up on a short-term deal and the former Kildrum Tigers schoolboy repaid the faith with a debut winner against a Mansfield side that included former Derry City and Finn Harps player Stephen McLaughlin, who also came off the bench.
Omar Bugiel gave Wimbledon the lead only for Mansfield - who had Jordan Bowery sent off after only 20 minutes - to level through Will Swann.
It was heading for stalemate until Curtis pounced in the dying seconds.
