Tony McNamee
Tony McNamee says it’s up to Finn Harps players to push on this term and restore faith along the terraces in Ballybofey.
Last season's disastrous efforts under the stewardship of Dave Rogers eventually resulted in the Liverpudlian departing before the end of the season.
Assistant Darren Murphy took up the baton before eventually being given the role full-time. Pragmatic and much more understated that his predecessor, Murphy has quietly gone about what’s been an encouraging pre-season. But skipper McNamee insists the real business starts now with their leageu opener away to Longford Town.
“Our home form really let us down last year,” explained McNameee. “For so long, Finn Park had been a fortress. So we have to get back to basics. We have to defend well and make it hard for sides to come here.
“We can’t look any further than Longford. They have added players to their ranks so we are only concentrating on that. We want to improve things here. We’ve looked at Longford ahead of the weekend and the hope is to get three points”.
