Drumbar FC side that won promotion
Drumbar FC has achieved promotion to the Donegal League Saturday Division 1 at the weekend after a tremendous league campaign which came down to the final that saw them overcome league champions Ramelton Mainers.
In the final round of league fixtures, the lads sealed promotion with a 5-2 to take second place in the league.
The second spot in the league was up for grabs between Drumbar, Swilly Rovers, and Dunlewey Celtic, but with Drumbar’s victory on Saturday, they finished the league with 42 points. And while Swilly has yet to play their final match, they can only reach 41 points in the league if they win next week.
Dunlewey meanwhile lost their game last Saturday and finish with 37 points so, therefore, will not make the play-off, regardless of Swilly Rovers' result.
Drumbar sealed victory on the day courtesy of a hattrick from Vincent Breslin, while Daniel Bennett and Joe Gillespie added to the tally at either side of half-time.
The result stood at 2-2 at the break with Bailey Kane and Ewan Kemp scoring the two goals for the Mariners, but Drumbar kicked on in the second half to seal the win.
