The Loreto Secondary School Letterkenny squad celebrate their victory in Ballyshannon

Loreto Secondary School, Letterkenny won the FAI Schools First Year Girls Ulster Cup in Ballyshannon on Thursday.
On a sunny day at the Lakeside Sports grounds, Loreto Letterkenny defeated Loreto Cavan. The Letterkenny side raced into a 2-0 lead when Tara McDaid finished brilliantly after a great through ball by Ella Brennan. It was Ella Brennan who made it two just before half-time, when she raced clear to finish neatly.
If Loreto Letterkenny thought they had one hand on the cup then Loreto Cavan were not going down without a fight and they got one back with 12 minutes to go. Both teams had chances to add to their tally with captain Caoimhe McLaughlin leading by example in goals for the Letterkenny girls.
However, Aoise Lenihan’s third settled things when she finished expertly to seal the win against a very good Loreto Cavan team. Caoimhe McLaughlin accepted the cup on behalf of Letterkenny girls, to spark great scenes of celebration.
