Drumbar United after their league title win
Drumbar United clinched their second U-16 league in-a-row with a hard-fought 3-2 victory in Milford.
Drumbar took an early lead when an excellent delivery from a corner wasn’t cleared and Sarah Colhoun was quickest to react to tap home.
Despite the early setback Milford grew into the match but found it hard to get past Nicola Happi in the Drumbar goal.
Milford attacked from the off in the second half and Ria Hardiman equalised with a well-taken goal from 20 yards.
Chloe Blaney put Milford in front with a speculative free kick on 60 minutes but Drumbar came back strongly and equalised through Michaela Hannafin on 70 minutes. Drumbar was awarded a free kick 25 yards out and Sarah Colhoun stepped up and scored a piledriver with four minutes left on the clock to leave it 3-2.
Milford threw everything they had to try and equalise but couldn’t find a way with only minutes left as Drumbar saw the game out for the win.
There will be a medal ceremony on Wednesday after their match against Ballyraine at Orchard Grove, Letterkenny which has a 6.30pm kick off.
