Donegal duo Aaron McLaughlin and Sean Patton were a part of the Republic of Ireland U-19 squad that lost on Thursday afternoon to France on a 2-1 scoreline.

Head Coach and former Finn Harps player Tom Mohan named a 23-man squad with Drumkeen native Patton starting the game, while Kerrykeel man McLaughlin made his U-19 debut by coming off the bench and having a serious impact by winning a penalty for his team.

Cian Dillon scored the penalty for the Irish side in the 87th minute, but at that stage Ireland was already losing, with France scoring two goals either side of half-time.

McLaughlin has made 12 appearances for the Harps this season, while Patton, who is on-loan from Derry City, made his U-19 debut in March of this year against Slovakia in a friendly and scored as Ireland won 3-1.
