Death mourned of former Donegal League disciplinary chairman Ernie Steele

In 2019, Mr Steele was honoured by the Donegal League for his contribution. At the annual awards function, Mr Steele was given a lifetime achievement award to mark his long service

Death mourned of former Donegal League disciplinary chairman Ernie Steele

The death has been mourned of former Donegal Junior League disciplinary committee chairman Ernie Steele.

The late Mr Steele was a long-time member of the disciplinary committee of the Donegal League and regularly sat on matters pertaining to discipline within the local junior league.

Late of Galdonagh, Manorcunningham, he passed away at Brindley Manor Nursing Home.

In 2019, Mr Steele was honoured by the Donegal League for his contribution. At the annual awards function, Mr Steele was given a lifetime achievement award to mark his long service.

In a statement following his passing, the Donegal Junior League said: “On behalf of the clubs, players, executive and everyone connected with the Donegal Junior League, we wish to send our deepest condolences to Margaret and the family and friends of Ernie Steele who passed away yesterday. 

“Ernie was a great friend of the League and served for many years on our Disciplinary Committee. May he Rest In Peace.”

Mr Steele is survived by his wife Margaret. He was the father of Julian (Donna), Gwendoline (the late Stanley), Alison (Paul) and Lindsey (Gavin).

He will be laid to rest on Friday in Newtowncunningham Presbyterian Churchyard following a service of thanksgiving at his home.
